App Logo
The logo for the original 2014 design of the photo archive app was based on
this openclipart.org file. The idea is good, but the
openclipart file has some distortions, particularly in the film strip holes,
that are distracting.
The new logo is using the GIMP Filters > Combine > Filmstrip... filter
to create the filmstrip effect, and then the Filter > Distorts >
Curve Bend... filter to make the curve. The font used is the
Raleway font, obtained from Google Fonts. It uses the following
set of photos: 20100909-140712, 20051102-092609, 20120918-112027, 07428,
20131102-130404, 20140911-100549, 20130811-095612, 20070709-152434.
Second try, with the same approach. It looks better, but there is again
the distortion in the middle. Somehow, I haven’t gotten the curve bend
filter to work the way I want. Added a possible background color, and a
highlight effect on the background to give it some accent.
Third try. Something a lot simpler: just the main (attention-grabbing)
sunflower photo, with hints of two other photos on the side. Still
distinctive in small sizes. Suitable to be displayed in a circle or
square.
